My personal experience with fasting started when I was 29, recovering from cancer.

At that time, I had been eating a wholefood, minimal meat, nutrient dense plan for at least 6 months. My first detox was a juice fast as this had the best research at the time on autophagy (death of diseased cells). This process allows the body to rid the cells of toxic waste products and damaged parts. Autophagy is best triggered between 24 to 48 hours of fasting. I initially visited Helen King’s office due to some really debilitating symptoms associated with my inability to retain food or fluids.After attending my GP & running a series of 8 different tests & a medical procedure, the outcome was unresolved as they couldn’t find anything medically wrong.I was lethargic, I couldn't sit, stand or lay down for more than a few minutes at a time as my body hurt, I couldn’t keep food or fluid down or in & was really starting to feel like this was going to be the end of me.
